Late in January I was contacted on twitter by Luca Molnar about her crowd funding project listed at Indiegogo. Luca is a painter from Hungary and her background includes working on campaigns at some of the most respected ad agencies and companies in the world, such as Ogilvy & Mather, Coke, MTV Networks and Landor Associates. In early 2013 she decided to leave the advertising world for good and started painting. Her vision is to make her art affordable to everyone and she does this by creating everyday things that has her paintings on them. These include covers for ipads and iphone, android devices as well as prints.
The project was simple enough. She wanted to crowd fund a new webshop.
Now to be frank, I receive many such requests for funding over twitter and other social venues and have passed on all of them. In this case, the quality of her work is world class and a few messages and emails we exchanged showed her passion for the project. So I was happy to contribute to the funds she was raising.
Her webshop has launched. Check it out at LucaMolnarShop.com
Why I Love her Work
Straight lines and geometric shapes – but she does not overdo it. There is incredible detail in each of her paintings and I just love bright colors. Her paintings just stand out. Then you also need to look at the conception. A lot of her work is abstract, but they make perfect sense right away.
As an indiegogo funder, I am receiving some of her prints, signed by the artist. Looking at the prices in her webshop, I have to tell you that these prints have already appreciated in value .
Given the quality of her work, I have no doubt these prints will be even more valuable in the years to come, specially as they are signed. The artist is quite young and her future works will no doubt be more complex and sought after. This is the value investor in me talking, but it is always a pleasure to support deserving entrepreneurs.
If you follow art, keep an eye out for her.
